In 1786, Benedetto Carpano created Antica Formula, thereby starting the production of an entire new category of alcoholic drinks: vermouth.
Carpano Antica Formula is the Italian vermouth par excellence, actually the first vermouth ever. It is made from Piedmont’s muscatel, white wine and the rich wines from southern Italy. Its taste and aroma come from carefully selected, brewed, mountain herbs. Its vanilla bouquet is matched by notes of spices and dried fruits such as star anise, orange peel and dates.
Perfect to drink cold as an aperitif or after a meal, Carpano Antica Formula can also be used as an ingredient in refined cocktails, adding a special touch in new versions of great classics such as the renowned Negroni, Americano or Manhattan.
Carpano Antica Formula is produced in limited amounts and sold in special blown-glass bottles. Topped by a cork, the bottles come protected in a unique metal package. The label is a replica of the original 1786 one.
